Prenatal Massage

Feel good, hurt less and sleep better during your pregnancy with prenatal massage.

Even with all the resources and support personnel available to expectant mothers, one simple truth remains – a woman must eventually do most of the childbearing work herself. Understanding how to best utilize your inner strength as a woman and how to harness your body's wisdom can make the childbearing process easier and healthier for both you and your baby. Prenatal massage is one of the best ways to facilitate this learning process, giving you the natural tools you’ll need in labor to manage the pain of childbirth, as well as helping and nurturing you both before and after the baby arrives.

What can prenatal massage do for you?

There are many benefits to prenatal massage, including relief from nausea or morning sickness and alleviating those aches and pains. You can experience improved breathing and circulation, reduced stress and swelling while enjoying physical relaxation. Prenatal massage can even reduce anxiety and depression while relieving insomnia.

Prenatal massage can help you in your labor!

Prenatal massage is something every pregnant woman should enjoy and should be considered a vital component of maternity care. Let’s face it, as beautiful of a time as pregnancy is, it can also be very stressful – not just emotionally but also physically. Your body is under more stress than normal and towards the end things can start to get uncomfortable. Having time to decompress and connect with your body and your baby during pregnancy is so important. It is a great time to practice your breathing, breath awareness and body awareness which all can collectively help to prepare you for labor.

How often should I receive prenatal massage during my pregnancy?

You can receive prenatal massages as often as you would like or your schedule and finances allow during any point in your pregnancy as long as you are not considered to be a high-risk pregnancy. If your pregnancy is considered to be high-risk you can still receive prenatal massage from a skilled and well-trained maternity massage specialist with the okay from your doctor/midwife/prenatal care specialist. Contrary to popular belief it is completely safe to have prenatal massages in your first trimester. Massage can not and does not cause miscarriages, but sadly many women have been turned away from massage during their first trimester because of this pregnancy myth.
